PCB Light-Up Skull
From TheBeard Science Project Wiki
This was just a quick weekend project. A couple years ago, I made a PCB skull-and-cross-bones from a graphics card and RAM. I decided to make it more interesting with some flashing LEDs.
Project Log
This is what I started with.
I soldered together a little 555 timer circuit that makes the LEDs flash alternately. I added a toggle button from a flashlight and a potentiometer from a CRT TV to control the speed. It may look like it would short out because of the copper leads on the PCB, but I actually put a couple layers of clear lacquer on it.
I put it all together on a piece of scrap acrylic.
A couple of batteries...
And it's done!
[If I'm not lazy, I might add a schematic and a video.]
