My CTC Bizer was having problems with static build-up disrupting the SD card and causing the print to fail (read more here).

I also explored other possible problems and decided to solve a lot of them all at once.

Things I needed:

  • Static shielding for PCBs
  • Static shielding for ribbon cables
  • Grounding for PCBs
  • Move stepper motor wires away from PCBs
  • Add better surge protection/UPS
  • Check for wire fatigue
  • check all wire connections
  • Test SD card
  • Test if there are software/gcode problems

The main thing that solved my problems was static shielding/grounding for the SD card and LCD PCBs. I used aluminum tape and kapton tape for shielding. Also, moving the stepper wires away was important (they produce a lot of electromagnetic interference).
