As a gift for a friend, I built an Atari Punk Console. It's a simple music synthesizer made from two 555 timers. It's a great project for beginners because it's really easy, uses few parts, and the result is very satisfying.

Just a quick and easy build. I wasn't too concerned about "quality."
Yes, I know the soldering is pretty bad, but keep in mind that all of the spill over and cold joints are on unused pads.
